Covid-19 Information

Kidz Kare strives to always protect the health and safety of children and employees.  During the current Covid-19 pandemic, heightened measures have been put into effect in accordance with Public Health and the Ministry of Education.  We have created and implemented thorough Covid-19 policies in order to combat the threat of the virus within our centre, meanwhile continuing to provide welcoming, loving and educational environments that are responsive to the social and emotional needs of the children in our care.

WHAT ARE SOME THINGS WE ARE DOING?

Classroom Ratios & Cohorts

In a daycare setting, a cohort is defined as a group of children and staff members assigned to them who stay together throughout the duration of the program. Cohorts will not be permitted to mix with other cohorts. Proper ratios will be maintained at all times. Cohorts may not be permitted to mix with other cohorts depending on the operation protocol level the daycare is in and/or direction from our governing bodies.

Daily Screening

All individuals will be screened prior to entering Kidz Kare. A detailed questionnaire must be completed, and a temperature reading will be recorded of both the child and the parent.

Staff Training

Kidz Kare staff are trained on the enhanced health, safety and other operation measures implemented to fight against the spread of Covid-19.

Attendance Records

We will maintain daily log records of anyone entering the centre and the approximate length of their stay. These records will be kept on the premises.

Physical Distancing

Physical distancing between children in a childcare setting can be difficult, but we will remind and encourage it while still maintaining a welcoming and caring environment for all our children.

Hand Hygiene & Respiratory Etiquette

Educators will teach and role model proper handwashing procedures for children and will encourage these in a fun and relaxed way. All individuals will follow proper cough and sneeze etiquette followed by hand washing afterwards.

Personal Protective Equipment

PPE equipment will be provided to all staff and must be utilized while caring for children. Full or partial PPE may be required for staff depending on the Operational Protocol Level that the daycare is currently in and/or direction from our governing bodies.

Toys & Equipment

For healthy development, it is important for children to have access to engaging, developmentally appropriate activities that intrigue and challenge them. However, some toys/equipment are harder to disinfect than other (plastic vs plush), therefore Kidz Kare takes all appropriate actions in order to create a safe learning space for children.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19?

Communication with our families regarding the enhancement of health and safety measures facilities transparency of expectations.  Our new Covid policies are shared with parents through a variety of means, for their information and to ensure they are aware of expectations and protocols, including keeping children isolated or at home when they are sick.

To stop this pandemic, we need to use all of our prevention tools. Vaccines are one of the most effective tools to protect your health and prevent disease. Vaccines work with your body’s natural defenses so your body will be ready to fight the virus, if you are exposed (also called immunity). Other steps, like wearing a mask that covers your nose and mouth and staying at least 6 feet away from other people you don’t live with, also help stop the spread of COVID-19.

Studies show that COVID-19 vaccines are very effective at keeping you from getting COVID-19. Experts also think that getting a COVID-19 vaccine may help keep you from getting seriously ill even if you do get COVID-19. These vaccines cannot give you the disease itself.
